Northeast Chapter News

July/August- ‘08

The entire Northeast Chapter welcomes our newest member,

Ronald and Stephanie Mulway of Port Charlotte, FL

Several Northeast members in route to the Mobile ACA National Rally enjoyed a pre-rally at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis, MS.  Thanks to Ken and Sharon Heins for making all of the parking arrangements in the casinos, full hook up, RV park.

This allowed some of us to contribute to the casinos money coffers by playing their various games of chance.  I learned long ago that their reason to be in the casino business is not to let me win money.  However, I still believe in the great American dream of winning mega $$$$$$$$$$ with one play of the one arm bandits.  Am I cheap or what?

Upon arrival at the RV park we were very surprised to see a beautiful 2008 42 Ft. full slide, American Tradition, being proudly displayed by its new owners Keith and Bertie Herman.  Way to go you two.  Good luck and enjoy.

On our first evening in Bay St. Louis, Ken and Sharon WOWED! us with a complete dinner at their coach consisting of Minnesota BBQ (Ken’s home state) and all the fixins including strawberry shortcake. YUM! YUM!

With Don and Helga Remington we traveled to Gulfport, MS Navy Base to attend an interesting Navy Seabee’s and Homeland Security field day.  Also, on another day Bea and I, with Don and Helga, traveled to New Orleans, LA for dinner and to see the sights of Bourbon St.  Very interesting!  In my opinion there is no other city like New Orleans.  On yet another day we boarded a boat in Biloxi, MS for an educational bay tour learning the shrimp dredging process.

Traveling around the Mississippi gulf area the storm damage from Katrina and some other hurricanes is still so obvious with many homes and businesses still missing completely or are in a totally uninhabitable state.

Upon arriving at the Fair Grounds for the ACA National Rally in Mobile, AL we were all parked together in a very timely fashion and found yet another Northeast Chapter member Scott and Susan Kellett with a new 2008 45 Ft. Eagle.  Their coach is the epitome of beauty.

We had a great time and many thanks to our hosts the Southeast Chapter and all their volunteers for all their hard work for putting the Rally together.

Upon leaving Mobile we had a 5-day ride to Essex Junction, VT to attend an FMCA, Green Mountain Chapter rally hosted by their chapter president Bonnie and Richard Barton of Barre, VT.  Bonnie and Richard are also our own Northeast Chapter members.

We enjoyed making many new friends, and their well-planned rally with much fun and food.

Also we found Essex Junction and the Burlington, VT area has many more attractions to be enjoyed than we had time to visit them.

In a few days we will arrive in Foxboro, MA for a great Northeast Chapter Rally on June 5th sponsored by Dave and Ann Castle.  Their thoroughness in rally preparation will be an asset to all of us.

The Lake George, NY rally scheduled for Sept. 3 –7, 2008 is sure to be a sell out because of the classic and street rod show.  For up to date info contact Jim and Brenda Anderson

518-654-9699or ablaze@frontiernet.net.   Immediately following Lake George we will

leave for a rolling rally through New England and Quebec City, Canada.  This certainly will be an interesting trip.  Contact Steve and Suki Duhamel at  203. 410.7236 or Gene and Lorraine Bailey at 203.430.8884 for more information.

Please be so thankful to all of the men and women of the world who often risk their lives to give us the safety, security and freedom that we enjoy every day.

We hope to see all of you at future chapter and national rallies.
