Northwest Chapter News

July/August- ‘08

I would like to introduce the Northwest Chapters newest members. Put your hands together and give a BIG Northwest Chapter welcome to Dave & Heide Potter from Carlton, Oregon.

Stan & Cheryl Donahoo are putting the finishing touches on the Canyonville rally in August. I urge all West Coast members to attend this one and invite others across this great land if you are in the area please join us. It should be a great rally and there is still time for you to get your applications in. Hope to see you there.

Wow, this fuel price thing has really hit the RV industry hard. The clubs the dealers and manufacturers are all feeling the pinch. It seems all of the rally attendance is down, the dealers’ sales are down and many manufactures are slowing down and some have even closed their doors. We as American Coach owners are so blessed to continue to receive the service and support from American Coach and Fleetwood. I for one think we ought to give all involved a big hi-five and thank you.

The past three weeks I have made two trips to California, one for a granddaughter graduation, a wedding and another granddaughter’s bridal shower. I was amazed at how few RVs were on the road. Next month (June) we will be in California again for a grandson’s graduation from the Police Academy, then to Reno for another granddaughter’s wedding.

Three members from the Northwest Chapter will be caravanning to Austin, MN for the ACC Rally. Cheer on Leslie & Mike Pettinger, Bob & Nan Simpkins, daughter Tish and granddaughter Zena. Oh yea Carita and I will be there too. This will be a rolling mini NW rally.

President Alick Muxlow had hoped to put on a rally in B.C. this summer. However after a survey of the membership he decided to put it on hold. We need to fill up our rally calendar. Since most of us won’t be taking long trips in the near future, let’s put on more local rallies. Maybe one in Montana, Idaho, Washington or Oregon. Let President Alick or myself know about you putting on a rally in your area. We will be glad to help, advise or just get out of the way. Your call.

The Northwest web site www.nwamericancoachassoc.com is up and running. We hope to be able to do renewals by the time you receive this. President Alick is now looking for a web master to keep it current and up dated. Step right up, we need you and it should be fun.

Dues for the Northwest Chapter are due July 1st of each year. Invoices were mailed out June 1st; be sure to get them mailed back soon. You know, it seems time is going by so quickly in this life of retirement I’m sending our dues in for three years. At $12.00 a year it’s a piece of mind thing, knowing I’m current and that is certainly worth $36.00.

In 1944, Jim Annan ACA # 726, joined the Coast Guard, thinking he would be patrolling the Oregon Coast. Five weeks later he was on his way to New Guinea; before he got out Jim had been around the world twice. His ship the USS General Hodges, Captain was Carl Hilton of the Hilton Hotel chain. The survivors gather each year for a re-union. This year it will be at Nashville, TN., with three from his ship in attendance. Thanks for your service Jim; have a good trip Ruth & Jim.

Thanks to all of the men and women in the service to our country around the world. Thanks also to all of the men and women of American Coach for hanging in there for us during this difficult economic time.

Hope to see you in Canyonville in August. Travel safe, be happy,

Alick Muxlow,
NW Chapter President
