South Central Chapter News
July/August-
‘08
GREETINGS! From SOUTH CENTRAL CHAPTER to all American Coach Owners.
Hope that you had a great Spring! Spring ends and summer begins around June 20, 21, or 22 in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the time that the flowers are beautiful. It is especially the month for roses. In the Southern Hemisphere, winter begins during June, and it brings cold, rainy weather to this part of the world.
FLAG
DAY is observed in the United States on June 14th.
It commemorates the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress
adopted the Stars and Stripes as our flag.
It then had only 13 stars, to match its 13 stripes.
This because our great nation was founded by 13 colonies of
Great Britain, who proclaimed themselves “states” and issued the
Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
It is proper at this time for us to pledge allegiance to our
flag:

PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
For those of
you who were unable to attend our “Trial Run” rally in Texarkana and
rolling rally on to the National rally in Mobile, Alabama, you
missed a good time. The
camaraderie among our chapter is phenomenal. Judging on the manner
in which the ’09 various committees handled their particular
committee assignments during the “trial run” rally, we are very
confident that we can have a successful rally at the Four States
Fairground in Texarkana next year.
Special thanks to the Rally Masters in Texarkana, Dick &
Claudette Holmes and Roger & Carol Bartel for a great time.
Also thanks to Bobby Walker for heading up the rolling rally
to Mobile. Our chapter
was commended on our arrivals into Mobile and quoted by the rally
parkers as being the only chapter who followed instructions
for entry at the rally site…..good work, guys!
The Southeast
chapter did a great job hosting the rally in Mobile.
Their southern hospitality was shown during all the
functions. What a joy
to behold all those smiling faces!
As you all know, we accepted their challenge to compete in a
Chili cook-off. Little
did they know how competitive our group really is.
Stepping up to the plate to enter the competition for SCC
were 5 very competent guys.
Heading the group was Bruce Pinnell, accompanied by Bart Volz, Ben McKenzie, Don Gentry and Dick Holmes. They looked very sharp in their matching outfits that included navy t-shirts, khaki slacks, decorative festive red aprons and patriotic red, white and blue caps in keeping with the patriotic theme. Thanks to the ladies and guys from South Central….everyone pitched in to decorate our booth that included a lighted canopy, with red, white and blue lights and balloons flying above. Quite a spectacular site to behold. Our own “Uncle Sam”, Bugs Rentrop, was on the outside of our cooking area, posing with members of the various chapters for pictures.
GUESS WHO WON THE CHILI COMPETITION, THE PRESENTATION AND THE TABLE DECORATIONS?
We are very proud to report that SOUTH CENTRAL came out 1st in all 3 categories. It certainly was “all about fun”, but how much fun it was to win!Special thanks to Randy Hendricks and his service crew for taking care of our coaches during the rally. We appreciate all the support we receive, from both the American Coach sales and service teams. I especially enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors with Charlie Adcock and the rest of the regional chapter presidents. This being my first rally serving on the Board, it was a learning experience for me.
2008 seems
to be a great year for South Central…we very proud to report that
our membership now totals 139 members.
We would like to formally welcome those members who have
joined our chapter in 2008; they are:
Jim & Marsha
McCorkill, The Woodlands, TX;
A.J. & Kathie Guttierrez, Kenner, LA; Kevin & Marla Mallory,
Celina, OH; Ronald & Lyda
McKee, Searcy, AR; Doug &
Mitzi Walker, Mayfield, KY;
Walter & Elaine Manning, Lago Vista, TX;
Tony & Betty Todd, Cibolo, TX;
Wayne & Billie Whitaker, Denver, NC; And- welcome
back to James Zancanaro & Shirley Boatman
We hope to see
all of them at future rallies down the road.
We are in the process now of finalizing plans for a possible
pre-rally in the Arkansas area prior to the FMCA Six-State rally in
North Little Rock, AR.
More information to follow as plans are finalized.
Hope to see everyone there.
Certainly hope the price of diesel comes down some and that
things stabilize where we can feel comfortable filling those
enormous fuel tanks.
Please remember
our young men and women in your prayers who are risking their lives
so that we may enjoy our freedom to come and go as we please and
enjoy all this “FUN”.
